About the artist:

Henri Gauquié,
born in 1858, was a student of Pierre Cavelier (1814-1894) at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
\r
He participated in the Salons in 1880, where he obtained several medals (1886, 1892, 1895, 1900) .
His best-known sculptures are the Monument to Antoine Watteau, (1896) in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.
\r
His Rondes d'Amours (1897-1900) which decorate the Alexandre III bridge are known to all tourists who visit the capital and to all lovers who do not hesitate to hang padlocks on them.
