Attributed to Giuseppe Gambarini, Italian 1680-1725- Sleeping girl seated in an interior with a resting dog; oil on canvas, 28 x 19.5 cm. In a 18th-Century gilded wooden frame. Note: Active in Bologna, Gambarini’s style conforms to the late-Baroque style of painting, prevalent in Italy at his time of working. He was a pupil of the painters Lorenzo Pasinelli (1629-1700) and Cesare Gennari (1637-1688) and executed several magnificent frescoes in the Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the 18th-Century aristocratic palace situated in Macerata, in the Marche region of Italy.
