Attributed to Ottavio Maria Leoni, Italian 1578-1630- Portrait of a man, bust-length, turned to the left; black chalk on blue paper, bears number '51' (upper right), 15.8 x 12.8 cm. Provenance: The estate of the late designer Anthony Powell. Note: Leoni was a celebrated portraitist in late 16th- and early 17th-century Rome. His drawings are executed with a particularly close attention to detail in a manner which allows the artist to convey a remarkable sense of the sitter’s presence.
