Notes: A paper label with the coat of arms of George Chetwynd affixed verso. A paper label from Gooden and Fox, London affixed to the stretcher. A paper label bearing the name P. Mignard affixed to the stretcher.
Condition Report: Visual: The tacking edge of the original canvas has been flattened and laid to a backing canvas. Craquelure throughout. Lines of varnish separation across the subject's forehead. A series of small chips of paint loss to the subject's decolletage. A 1" tear in the canvas with minor paint loss lower center. Surface dirt and grime throughout.
Blacklight: A 1" band of restoration around the perimeter of the top of the oval. Difficult to read under heavy varnish.
