Condition Report:
The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. All functions are working properly and the quarter repeating chimes in phase with a nice tone clarity. The watch has been very slightly polished during past servicing but the hallmarks and engravings on the case back are very nice and crisp. Otherwise the watch is in excellent overall condition with extremely minor signs of wear only, hardly visible with the naked eye. The clasp is in excellent overall condition.

Dating back to the 18th century, the use of a repeater timepiece was to tell time in the dark. Although we do not have this concern in the modern era, the complication is still regarded as a work of art in horology. What is more fascinating is the present Jules Audemars’ grande sonnerie which is considered as one of the rarest and most highly regarded watch complications ever created. The grande sonnerie, which chimes the hours and quarters automatically every 15 minutes, and the petite sonnerie, which chimes every hour. A pusher at 11 o'clock activates the chime on demand, while a slide at 2 o'clock offers different settings to choose between the grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, or silence. While the practicality of the repeater function may have diminished with technological advancements, collectors still appreciate its intricacy and complexity. A significant milestone in the history of watchmaking, the watch will still be admired by watch connoisseurs in future generations.
