In 2015, Audemars Piguet launched the newest version of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar reference 26574 and set the tone for future complications and case materials in this classic and iconic lineage. Ceramic is a popular material in high-end watchmaking, prized for its durability, scratch resistance, and unique aesthetic qualities. In 2017, Audemars Piguet finally released the current 26579CE which both the case and bracelet are made of black ceramic. Bold and powerful, the modern black aesthetics combining the slate grey dial were never seen in any other brand before.

Surely one of the hardest materials to craft, the standard by Audemars Piguet is to finish its ceramic case and bracelet to the same extent as that of a steel Royal Oak. The finishing of the bracelet alone requires 30 hours, which is five time longer than for the steel version. The result is unbelievably well done and the glamor that it gave out even surpassed the steel surface. Not-to-mention the calibre 5134 is an ultra-thin automatic perpetual calendar movement based on the iconic calibre 2120, providing a slim and wearable piece of art on the wrist.
