Audemars Piguet’s Quantième Perpétuel Automatique models have experienced a breathtaking rise in popularity in the last few years, with the Squelette being one of the most coveted models. At the time of its launch in 1978 the "Quantième Perpétuel Automatique" was one of the most remarkable horological innovations of its time. The watch featured the flattest movement in the world with automatic winding mechanism for a perpetual calendar. The ultra-flat 3.95 mm height was achieved by updating calibre 2120, which launched in 1967. The case of the Quantième Perpétuel Automatique Squelette has a diameter of 36 mm and is only 8 mm high. It is all-over ornamented with small stamps and engraving and in outstanding condition. Particularly remarkable is the complexity of the dial with four silvered chapter rings for the perpetual calendar against the skeletonized background with matted and bevelled steel levers and toothed wheels. This perpetual calendar is powered by Audemars Piguet’s legendary calibre 2120, which was at the time the flattest automatic movement with perpetual calendar available on the market. It is allover exquisitely engraved and has 38 jewels, a linear anchor escapement and a hand-engraved skeletonized 21 K gold rotor. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movm.: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended.
