Auguste Carli (1868-1930) - Finely carved bust of Jesus, signed A. Carli- Marble - Early 20th century

An excellently sculpted masterpiece bust of Jesus, standing circa 27cm tall and weighing 7. 5Kg, the head carved from white Carrara marble, the shoulders from pink alabaster, partially painted gold. Signed to the reverse A. Carli. Auguste Carli (1868-1930) was a French sculptor who made religious monuments and sculptures, amongst others the large statue of Christ and Saint Veronica in the Marseille cathedral. Condition: good, no damages or repairs. Cracks along the natural fault lines of the alabaster. Minor wear commensurate with age. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
