both full length cut and paste, the first identified with ink inscription to verso "Thos. Stewardson M.D. / attending physician to the Penna. Hospital / Philadelphia May 2nd 1843," and with affixed paper label from Arthur S. Vernay reading, "This Silhouette of / Dr. Thomas Stewardson / was cut by August Edouart during his / visit to the United States 1839-1849 / Arthur S. Vernay / 12 East 45th Street New York" (12.5 x 6 in.); the second depicting a gentleman holding his top hat, signed lower left and dated 1828 (11 x 7 in.).
