Inscription: lower right collector's stamp Friedrich August II von Sachsen (Lugt no. 971)

Condition: Slightly browned, some larger stains, especially in the right half of the image.

Description: Under a sky covered with piling up dark clouds, the Campanile of a small Italian church rises up, which seems to be partly decayed. Enfantin probably made this etching during his stay in Italy between 1825 and 1827. In Rome he had contact with artists such as François-Edouard Bertin and Camille Corot. In 1827, at the age of 34, he died in Naples.
