Elegant and original brooch depicting a dragon with wings wide spread, made in gold-toned metal and richly adorned with an enamel blue and white decorative pattern.
The piece features remarkable decorative work: the body, the wings, the head and the long sinuous tail are covered with fine floral motifs and motifs inspired by archaizing scrolls, in a cobalt blue palette on a white background reminiscent of traditional Asian porcelains.
The large spread wings are particularly decorative. They are structured by gilded ribs and raised borders that emphasize their shape and contrast with the delicacy of the blue-and-white decoration. Each wing is enhanced by a faceted turquoise-blue stone in a navette (shield) shape.
The dragon's body is also studded with several small faceted turquoise-blue navette-shaped stones with iridescent reflections. Its long sinuous tail, decorated with regular blue lines, ends with a cluster of three turquoise-blue round stones, adding an extra touch of light.
The head, finely formed, has dark eyes and retains the same enameled decoration as the rest of the piece.
The reverse side is entirely gold, with a relief corresponding to the molding of the wings and body. The brooch is equipped with a fine needle closure system, visible in the photographs.
