Don’t miss this opportunity and become the new owner of this timeless classic Austin-Healey convertible! This is a NO RESERVE PRICE AUCTION. Before the start of the Earls Court Motor Show, Leonard Lord, the director of Austin, discovered the Donald Healey 100 at the Donald Healey stand. Before the motor show opened, Leonard Lord bought the rights to the Donald Healey 100. At the motor show, Austin and Donald Healey presented the Austin-Healey 100. The first BN4 was built in May of 1956 in Longbridge, England. Production of the BN4 commenced in August (the BN3 and BN5 were used as prototypes) . The BN4 came with steel wheels as a standard. The chassis was modified, the radiator was relocated and the bonnet was fitted with a so-called power bulge in order to mount the 6-cylinder engine from the Austin Westminster. The grille’s typical diamond-shape had now disappeared for good. The two-seater version, the BN6, was built from March 1958 to March 1959 and was equipped exclusively with the more powerful 117hp engine. The call for the reintroduction of a two-seater had come mainly from America. Not least because of the small boot space of the BN4. In the 12 months of production, only 4,150 units were built which makes this Healey a true collectable. This older frame-off restored Austin-Healey (photo report of the frame-off restoration available) with overdrive starts immediately, idles nicely and shifts smoothly and powerfully through all gears, it brakes properly. The car has good paint but has a bit of crackle in various places (see photos) . The chrome still looks very nice and the soft-top is in new condition. The interior was reupholstered during the restoration and is in very neat condition as visible in the photos. The engine and transmission were also overhauled during the restoration. What makes this car interesting is the complete maintenance history from 1981 to 2012 worth over $ 33,000, in addition to the complete photo report of the frame-off restoration. This Healey was always lovingly maintained. These early Austin-Healey convertibles are offered less and less often, so don't wait too long and become the new owner of this piece of British pride!
