AUSTIN-HEALEY "Frogeye" SPRITE MK I 1958 Rare Sprite from the first series with many unique details which disappeared in later series. *Original steering wheel *New soft-top *Side windows and spare wheel *Beautiful 'chrome' bumper rosettes *Original odometer *13" steel wheels with hubcaps and new tyres The Austin Healey Sprite Designed by Donald Healey to make sports cars more affordable, the Sprite went into production at MG's Abingdon plant in 1958. The new car was officially unveiled in Monte Carlo a few months later, just before the Monte Carlo Rally, underlining the brand's sporting intentions for the new car. The one-piece body had a striking rear hinged combined bonnet and wings and double 'frog-eyed' headlights which guaranteed instant recognition and the now familiar nickname. This particular Sprite has some very rare details. Including different reinforcement points and the narrow windscreen frame. The colour combination was very tastefully done, the bodywork was sprayed in red. A very nice combination with the black interior, the seat upholstery is finished with white piping. Very nice, new, black soft-top. The Sprite has the original steel bonnet. The Sprite was originally delivered new in Sweden. The Sprite’s body is neat. The doors, sills, mudguards, bonnet and boot lid have a good fit. The paintwork is in good condition. Recently fitted with a new soft-top, with 9 push buttons above the windscreen. A feature on the first 6,000 MKIs to be produced. A few attachment points on the top and car still need to be mounted. The same goes for the windscreen washers. If you are an Austin Healey enthusiast looking for a rare and early Sprite, then this is your chance. Nice car to drive, with some cosmetic imperfections on the paintwork as can be seen in the detailed photos. You are welcome to view this car in our showroom and take it for a test drive before you place a bid. This vehicle can be viewed and picked up in Oldemarkt, the Netherlands. The Austin Healey has sustained some signs of wear and age over the years, see photos. We can arrange export documents and transport for you. A 2-week insurance is also possible if necessary!
