Autinite Daybreak Mine, Mount Kit Carson, Spokane Co., Washington, USA "A cluster of yellow cocks combs to about an inch. The specimen has suffered some dehydration over the years and has been stabilized in places with white glue. Bought the specimen from John Wolf of San Diego for $30." - Rock H. Currier Not really from a "mine" at all, but rather a minor prospect trench. They come out of the ground showing a fluorescent green color that gradually changes to an olive-yellow-green color as the specimens lose essential water and change their structure and chemistry to Meta-Autunite. All specimens, not still in the ground, are considered to have been 'stabilized' with various consolidants, and if they haven't been so treated; they should be. Having survived, out of the ground, for over 56 years, is a testament to the stabilization that Rock did to the specimen. One of the better examples from this 'lost' locality, it has been photographed under regular and UV light to show fluorescence. Overall Measurements: 2.6 x 1.6 x 1.6 inches (6.5 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from John Wolf [RHC #160, acquired 1963] MinID 6RW-1H6 [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
