Auto King Motor Oil Thermometer
Made in U.S.A. 1920 - 1929. Painted wood. The metal bracket located near the top right ("Turn Bottle and Prove It") was originally designed to hold a glass quart bottle of Auto King motor oil upside down. This setup visually demonstrated to customers that the wax-free oil remained perfectly fluid and clear even in extreme sub-zero weather. A rare piece of interactive advertising for this era. Unmarked. 21" x 8". All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. From the Barry Yorgason Collection.
Condition
Original paint shows minor crazing. There is heavy wear-through and chalkiness to center. Retains thermometer bulb and hardware.
