Autobianchi - Stellina - 1963

Autobianchi Stellina from 1963. 1 of the 502 built (how many of these are still around?) . This is a rare one, even at international car meetings. The Autobianchi Stellina is a small spider with a 29 HP 767 cc water-cooled four-cylinder engine in the back, built between 1964 and 1965 based on the chassis of the Fiat 600D. The car has a unique uni-body made of fibreglass built on a steel frame. It was the first Italian car with a fibreglass body and also one of the first in the world. Braking was controlled via drum brakes on all four wheels. The streamlined design was made by Luigi Rapi and the car was first presented as a prototype at the Turin Motor Show in 1963. The sale started a year later and only 502 Stellinas were built before the production ended in 1965. That year, Fiat launched a slightly larger model in the form of the Fiat 850 spider. It was red, this was not original. We got the correct colour from the Autobianchi registry in Italy: Bianco Ghiaccio. The whole car was resprayed and restored to its former glory. No expense or trouble spared in doing so, originality was key. This Stellina (her name is Perlita) was built in 1963, this is one of earliest units! Perlita is ready to enjoy the sun and surroundings with her new owner next summer. The car is in superb condition and has a new Dutch periodic vehicle inspection which is valid for 2 years.
