Finca Vigia, San Francisco de Paula, Cuba, December 4, 1950. 2pp., on two 4to sheets. Signed "Ernesto", with Hemingway's numerous manuscript ink notes and corrections, and three-line manuscript postscript initialed "E H". in clear, strong blue ink. .

To Mr. George Brown, in a staccato style, "Just found your letter, boy, and hasten to answer. Thanks for all the news of the wicked city,...Every form of nonsense down here but no news of any kind. Never believe anything you read in the funny papers. Never believe anything you hear on the radio. Never believe anything I tell you unless I say am leveling and now I'm leveling...Scribner lost all of his staff...How do feel about fighting the Chinese? I think you are just the man. Do you want to join Hemingstein and Brown... raiders... Have the weight down to 207 the pressure 165 over75...wish that we can make another dove shoot...Mary is find[sic] and sends her love... Did you see the piece I wrote about Ezzard[ Charles]... Kid Tunero who was a pal of mine down here beat the - out of Ezzard spotting him 20 years and 25 pounds..." The initialed ms. postscript reads, " Dictated this onto a dictaphone. But the jerk who transcribed it must have been some relation to our man ' Celery'."

George Brown was Hemingway's friend and factotum, he had owned a gym in New York and served as a Hemingway's boxing coach and trainer.
