Azurite "Rose" Czar Mine, Bisbee, Warren District, Mule...

Azurite "Rose" Czar Mine, Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA "A 9 cm brilliant floater azurite rose. One of the very best ever found. Traded this from the George Vaux collection when Harold Arndt was the curator. I think he traded me stuff just because I was young and enthusiastic." - Rock H. Currier It is said that old age and treachery beats youth and enthusiasm, but this fine Bisbee Azurite pretty much puts the lie to that oft repeated canard. As Rock noted, his numerous Vaux Collection pieces were most likely due to Harold Arndt 'taking a shine' to the fledgling collector. For whatever reason, Rock ended up with beauties like this 'floater' Azurite over 3 1/2" across. The luster that this 'rose' displays is as good as it gets for Azurite from Bisbee, or, anywhere else for that matter. It is a stunning, brilliant example that has stood the test of time. Part of the "American Mineral Treasures Exhibit" at the Tucson Show in 2008. It has a custom acrylic base and the original Vaux label. Overall Measurements: 3.5 x 2.6 x 2.2 inches (9.0 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Bryn Mawr College, Ex. George Vaux Collections [RHC #1890, acquired 1972] MinID NKE-V6X [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
