Azurite & Malachite Ajo Mine, Ajo, Little Ajo...

[ translate ]

Azurite & Malachite Ajo Mine, Ajo, Little Ajo Mts, Ajo District, Pima Co., Arizona, USA "A small cluster of dark blue well formed crystals to about an inch. Bought the specimen from Stan Esbenshade of Tucson, Arizona" - Rock H. Currier Ajo is still there, baking in the sun, but they went through the 'oxide zone' a long time ago, which is where these goodies came from. Besides that, it used to be you could pick up pieces of Native Copper on the dumps because they threw them out. Why? Because a big chunk of Native Copper is just like a golf ball in a blender, when it gets into an ore grinder: No Bueno! The pit is still there, but all the ones like this are not. They went away a long time ago. Stan should feel complimented: Rock actually spelled his name correctly, which is more than can be said for other dealer names in Rock's catalog. Overall Measurements: 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.8 inches (4.0 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from Midwest Minerals (Stan Esbenshade) [RHC #4838, acquired 1987] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
