BALLOON AND SPEARPOINT OPEN COMPOTES, LOT OF THREE, colorless lead glass, comprising two having a baluster-form stem and circular foot and a large example raised on a flaring stem with a scalloped edge. Probably Pittsburgh area. Third quarter 19th century. 7 1/2" to 9 1/4" H, 8 1/2" to 10 1/4" D rims.
Large example having two pattern bruises and a chip to the rim; small examples nearly undamaged with an isolated flake or two, one having a slight purple tint. One having a couple of open bubbles to the edge of the foot, as made.
