BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately two-gallon capacity, ovoid form with beaded neck, arched tab handles, and flared medium collar with flat-top rim. Bold brushed cobalt horizontal floral and feather decoration on both sides, additional cobalt at handle terminals with five or six graduated dashes under handles. Probably Parr Pottery, Baltimore, MD. Mid 19th century.
Condition: Several flakes to rim, one small spall to decoration, possibly as made, and two light radial hairlines. Firing imperfections, including kiln kiss, as made.
Size: 11 3/4" H, 7 3/4" D rim.
