BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim and beaded neck ring, with cobalt brushed dropped feather decoration repeated three times. Together with a mug having slightly tapered cylindrical form with flared rim, small lightly grooved handle, and clam-shell pattern cut-off lines under base, slipped cobalt "H. K. / n y." initials on front. Two pieces total. Jar probably the pottery of Maulden Perine & Co., Baltimore, MD. Mid 19th century.

Condition: Jar undamaged, except for very light approximately 6 1/4" L base hairline; mug with chip to rim above initials and very light rim hairline, otherwise undamaged.

Size: Jar 8" H, 4 7/8", mug 4 7/8" H, 3" D rim.
