Condition Report:
Very good condition overall for an object of this age and type with wear consistent with use. One horn repaired in situ with cloth binding, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Minor marks, nicks, scratches and abrasions, including small chips to the mane, and a small, shallow surface cavity to one side of the mane. Old wear and well-patinated loss to the front edge and tip of the front horn. Very old patinated losses under the fiber attachments at the tips of the other horns. Exceptionally fine, deep, layered glossy black patina, with the reddish color of the wood visible in places, and with areas of encrustation. Has stand.
