The Junker Bank was one of the four leading Moscow based banks in the early 20th century. It was founded by Johann Wilhelm Junker (1797-1847), who left Göttingen, Germany for St. Petersburg in 1818 and started his banking activities in 1839. His successors turned it into a capital company (1873) and a joint-stock company (1911). The bank management remained in the hands of the Junker family. So is this certificate signed by Friedrich and Bernhard Junker (or, in Russian: Fjoder and Boris Fjodorovitch). The bank was especially strong in disconto business and share trading, introducing several Russian companies at the Stock Exchange. Had also offices in Germany and the UK where it marketed Russian state and railroad bonds. An important Russian bank share, and not offered by us before.
