BARNUM, P.[HINEAS]. T. Autograph card signed twice. Pasteboard card, 1 3/4 x 3 1/8 inches (4.5 x 8 cm), recto signed "P.T. Barnum" and dated March 9, 1866, verso with "Bridgeport Conn/March 9th, 1866/ Met [?] Clearwater/Truly Yours/P.T. Barnum". Lightly toned.
A nice example of a signed Barnum card, signed both recto and verso, with a sentiment. At the time, Barnum was living in Bridgewater, and was running "Barnum's New Museum" at 539-41 Broadway, New York. The recipient, Alphonso Clearwater, a West Point native, would have been 24 at the time.
