BEER STEIN BY REINHOLD MERKELBACH
Blue and white ceramic 0.5 liter beer mug decorated with a finely executed hunting motif in relief. The hinged lid of pewter construction bears the inscription ‘Stab. Sanitats Abteilung Regensburg 1941' indicating this was made for a member of the Regensburg sanitary staff department in 1941. The top of the lid is further marked ‘AM', unidentified by us. Regrettably, the leaf decoration at the top of the hinge is bent, else in very good condition. Stamped on the base is the maker mark for renowned potter Reinhold Merkelbach.
