BELIDOR, Bernard Forest de (1698-1761) - Architecture Hydraulique, ou l'Art de Conduire, d'Elever, et de Menager les Eaux. Paris: Charles Jombert, 1737-1790. A composite edition in 4 volumes complete with 219 plates illustrating hydraulic and architectural projects and battle plans. 2 parts in 4 volumes, 4to (281 x 206mm). Engraved frontispiece in the first volume by Jacques Rigaud (perhaps a second frontispiece is missing at the beginning of the second part), half-title at the beginning of the second part, title in first part printed in red and black, engraved and woodcut initials, fine historiated engraved headpieces, 219 engraved and folding plates divided as follows: 44, 55, 60, 60 (some browning and foxing, a few occasional tears). Contemporary calf with gilt spines, similar but not uniform (extremities lightly rubbed). Being a composite edition, the volumes are sold as described and are not subject to return. (4)
