BELL FAMILY, STRASBURG, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE VASE / URN, white-slip glazed, urn form with a coggled-edge rim, incised shoulder ring, and lion-mask handles, punched drain hole in base. Solomon Bell or Samuel Bell and his sons, Strasburg, VA. 1870-1895. 12 7/8" H, 8" D rim.
Excellent condition for this form, chip to rim interior, some small flakes to exterior coggled rim decoration with interior and exterior wear, masks having minor glaze flake/wear with one having chip to nose. Firing imperfections, including separation on one mask, as made.
