Note: Ben Thompson was a founding member of The Architects Collaborative (TAC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1945. Other members included Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, who was then leading the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 1953 Thompson founded Design Research, the influential furnishings and housewares store, which first brought Marimekko designs to the United States. Thompson went on to design Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston as well as other major adaptive reuse projects at Harborplace in Baltimore and South Street Seaport in New York City.
