Property Office. Oscar, l'aîné, gérait la promotion et les finances de l'entreprise, Benjamin qui était étudiant à Columbia University s'occupait de l'exploitation, et le cadet, Ralph, était impliqué dans la vente.
Bien que la société ait un immeuble au centre de Manhattan, l'essentiel de la production se trouvait à La Chaux-de-Fonds en
Suisse dans les locaux de Breitling. Fait notable, la branche suisse était la première entreprise de taille à être dirigée par une femme.

The Benrus Watch Co. was founded in 1921 in New York by brothers
Benjamin, Ralph and Oscar Lazrus, immigrants from Romania. Since pocket watches were no longer fashionable at the time, the three brothers began producing cheaper wristwatches. On May 14, 1923, the Benrus brand name was put under the protection of the Swiss
Intellectual Property Office. Oscar, the eldest, was responsible for advertising and finance at the firm, then came Benjamin who attended Columbia University and was in charge of operational matters, the youngest brother, Ralph, was active in sales. Although the company building was located in the middle of Manhattan, the majority of production took place in La Chaux-de-Fonds Switzerland under the roof of Breitling. It is interesting to note that the Swiss branch was the first large concern to be run by a woman.
