BERNHARDT SARAH: (1844-1923), French stage Actress. A lengthy A.L.S., 'Sarah Bernhardt', six pages, 12mo, n.p., 1881, on his personal printed stationery, to notary Mr. Capelle, in French. The letter bears an attractive embossed monogramme with her initials ''S.B'' and the motto ''Quand Meme''. Bernhardt instructs Mr. Capelle to negotiate on her behalf in order to obtain the land adjacent to her property. She requests a power of attorney in order to conclude this matter as soon as possible. She also asks him to end with two other similar cases. Bernhardt states in part 'as I am talking to you about my business, please ask my suppliers for a little conciliation '. Further, and before concluding Bernhardt says 'some things have been done twice and I don't think it is a fair thing that I, the client, should suffer these mistakes. I would like everyone in this business doing what they have to do and take responsibility ' Together with A.L.S. by Jean Duval, as general administrator of the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre, one page, 25th February 1911, addressed to actor Emile Drain, in French, offering him an appointment at the theatre. Accompanied by the original envelope. Also including ''Billet de faveur'' of two seats for the performance of the 18th June 1912 at the Théatre Sarah Bernhardt, signed by Louis Déan.
