Condition Report:
The board appears sound. The board bows slightly towards the centre and at upper right.

French Tango: There are Artist's pinholes in all four corners and to the upper left edge. There is a vertical scratch on the ankle of the female dancer (approximately 3cm in length), and various other scratches and scuff marks to the surface of the work. There is a crack in the board above the dancer's right leg probably caused by an impact with three spots of associated loss. There are many small vertical cracks in the board, especially within the lower half.

The Expedition: There are Artist's pinholes in the upper left and lower right corners. There are some light scuffs and scratches to the work in places. There are some spots of staining in the sky and towards the right edge. There is evidence of some frame abrasion to the right edge. There is a fine split in the board to the lower right edge, with two further minute splits to the upper right quadrant which are inherent.

There is some light surface dirt and a few small instances of matter to the work in places. This excepting, the work appears to be in good overall condition.

Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of retouching. The work fluoresces in a few areas, in keeping with the Artist's working methods.

The work is held in a painted wooden frame, and the work to the verso is visible in the current framing.

Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
