Title: BEWARE No. 8
Place Published:
Publisher:Trojan [Indicia: Trojan Magazines, Inc.]
Date Published: March, 1954

GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 4.5 sold for $270 in 10/22.Sleeping with Stiffs: Blowsy battle-axe lops off hapless hubby's head; sewer-dwelling subterraneans swipe stiffs from morgues to snack on in their hellish hideaway; wiseguy med students sneak a dead guy into their sleeping pal's bed as a prank ("Hey, Jim, Paul's in his bed taking a nap. Let's put the stiff in with him... Oh boy, what a joke!").
The latter tale (Harry Kiefer's "Come Die With Me") was reworked by Larry Woromay 16 years later and published as "Zombie for a Day" in Eerie Publications' Weird vol. 4 #2, with the homoerotic-necrophiliac undertones of the original version augmented by the schlocky grindhouse aesthetic that typified Eerie Publications' output. The common denominator of Trojan's Beware and Eerie Publications' Weird was dreckmeister Myron Fass, who resurfaced in the 1960s, alongside fellow pre-Code horror hack Robert W. Farrell, to inflict hastily redrawn versions of pre-Code terror tales on a new generation of fright fans under the Eerie aegis.______________________________________________________________
