PBA sold a raw 4.0 for $156 in 2/22.The Riddle of Jokerface: One yarn in this mag is drawn by an enigmatic hack known only as "Jokerface." Jokerface drew a scant four stories for various Fawcett titles before vanishing into the void. Was he a slumming up-and-comer paying dues while trying to break into the commercial arts, using a pseudonym to shield his rep from the stigma of comics? A rummy earning booze bread for his next bender? An office boy pressed into service to help meet deadlines? It's said that in the pre-Code comics biz, pretty much any slob who could hold a brush could hustle an art gig: "You could be a genius, you could be a nobody, a little kid from Brooklyn like me, or some kind of nut. The doors were open to any and all." – Joe Kubert, quoted in David Hadju's The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How it Changed America. FSG: 2008, p. 22.______________________________________________________________
