Title: BEWARE! TERROR TALES No. 4
Place Published:
Publisher:Fawcett [Indicia: Fawcett Publications, Inc.]
Date Published: November, 1952
Description:

VG+ (4.5). Very light spine stress, tiny bump and a few tiny nicks to right edge of back cover, grease-penciled distributor's mark to margin of back cover ("K"). Cream to off-white pages. As nice as a copy can be before cracking the 5.0 barrier. Clean and press to 5.5? There's a line a third of the way up the front cover from the bottom — this is a printer's mark affecting the entire print run (see Gerber's Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books and Grand Comics Database: the copies pictured have identical markings). Cover: Bernard Baily. Art: Bob McCarty, Shelly Moldoff, Maurice Gutwirth? GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 5.5 sold for $386 in November 2021.

"During its short run 'Beware! Terror Tales' was an entertaining comic with some suspenseful and well-drawn stories, even if most were unspectacular." — William Schoell, The Horror Comics: Fiends, Freaks and Fantastic Creatures, 1940s-1980s. McFarland: 2014, p. 77.

A deluxe limited edition of 12 hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a small number of softcovers. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $40, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Eight of the 12 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's Spring 2022 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Find out why PBA is the new fan-fave of comics auctioneers. "This is some of the best commentary I've yet seen on the quality of the content of comic books... Priceless." — R. Crumb.
