Designer
Björn Trägårdh (1908-1998) Artist, furniture architect, cartoonist and graphic artist. He worked as a designer at Firma Svenskt Tenn from 1928 to 1936, where he designed furniture, tin objects and other art industry products. Trägårdh was associated with Svenskt Tenn as a 20-year-old and was influenced by a functionalist conception of form. He worked in a sober color scale using black, white and gray as color elements. Furthermore, together with Estrid Ericson, he was an exhibition organizer for some attention-grabbing exhibitions. After Josef Frank started working at Firma Svenskt Tenn, Trägårdh moved to Paris in 1939 where he worked as a visual artist. During and after the war he returned to the arts and crafts and fashion industries, making buttons and brooches for the fashion houses Dior, Bruyère, Schiaparelli and others, among others. Represented: Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Institut Tessin in Paris and in art museums in Tours and Pau in France.Show more
