Author:
Title: BLACK CAT MYSTERY No. 52
Place Published:
Publisher:Harvey [Indicia: Home Comics, Inc.]
Date Published: October, 1954
Description: Fine (6.0). Spine ends nicked, small fine crease to right edge of front cover, very slight edgewear. Nice, clean, flat copy, excellent cover colors. Cream pages, light tan edges.

Credits: Cover: Lee Elias? Art: Bob Powell, Joe Certa, Rudy Palais, Manny Stallman. Contents reprinted from Black Cat Mystery #34.

GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 5.0 sold for $276 in 11/23.Scavenger Hunt from Hell: Animated deck of cards goes on kill spree; man chokes invalid wife to get his mitts on her dough; umpteenth "Monkey's Paw" rehash; hag forces party-goers on a gruesome scavenger hunt ("'The right eye of a freshly buried corpse!' 'Dirt from a new grave!' What HIDEOUS list have you made for us?"). The cover, while not a direct swipe, bears a curious resemblance to several panels from Tony Mortellaro's classic "Rat Trap" in Stanley Morse's Mister Mystery #8 (Nov. 1952), and may be a kind of single-image composite of several panels from that story.______________________________________________________________

A limited edition of ten hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a few dozen softcovers. Fun reference, great keepsake, fully illustrated, chockablock with obscure facts, gags, bon mots. Softcovers are $40, deluxe hardcovers with dust jackets and limitation plates are $200. These books always go fast so don't delay. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.
