BMW - 326 - 1936

The BMW 326 was a medium-sized sedan, designed by Fritz Fiedler and produced by BMW between 1936 and 1941, after WW2 shortly under Soviet control. The 326 was BMW's first four-door sedan. It had an innovative design and sold well despite its relatively high price. The model was styled by Peter Schimanowski and was available as a four-door sedan and as a two-door or four-door convertible. The 326 sedan was the first 4-door BMW to be available. The BMW 320, BMW 321, BMW 327 and BMW 335 were all based on the 326. The model had a streamlined body. The 1971 cc six-cylinder line engine was a variation of the engine in the 319 and had a four-speed gearbox. The 326 was introduced at the Berlin Motor Show in February 1936 and was a success. The factory in Eisenach had produced 15,949 vehicle by the time production ceased in 1941. This car is a barn find, it has stood still for 20 years in a heated garage. The engine is complete and it works. The body doesn’t have any rotten areas but needs to be restored. Car and engine are original, a perfect base for a restoration. The car can be viewed and picked up in Sassenheim, the Netherlands.
