BMW M3 E46 was presented in 2000 with the new 3. 2 litre displacement engine, in the S54B32 in-line six-cylinder configuration, with power 343 hp at 7,900 rpm and torque 365 Nm at 4,900 rpm. It therefore features a high specific power of about 107 hp/litre, a remarkable performance for a naturally aspirated engine, also achieved thanks to the new generation timing variation system, called Doppio VANOS, both for intake and exhaust. This allowed it to reach self-limited 250 km/h and to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5. 2 seconds.
