BNC - c.1925

An iconic sign in the world of garages -

Very rare, original, double-sided enamel advertising sign in the shape of a coat of arms. 90 x 66.5 cm. “Émail.Als.Strasbourg”

In excellent condition -

It stands out for its fantastic enamel quality—thick, “rich,” and substantial—offering remarkable original luster and vivid, striking red hues.
There are a few minor chips localized along the edges, mainly on one side, along with slight irregularities in the original enamel application—characteristic of the traditional firing process and evidence of its authenticity—minor details for this exceptional sign, which is an absolute rarity on the market.

The design is remarkably visually striking—simple, powerful, and impactful.
Against a dynamic red background, the upper portion proudly displays the famous acronym B.N.C. in striking white capital letters, surmounting a stylized representation of the brand’s iconic grille.

B.N.C. (Bollack, Netter & Cie)
Founded in 1923 in Levallois-Perret by Lucien Bollack and René Netter, the French brand established itself as a flagship of interwar cyclecars and sports cars, notably distinguished by Violette Morris’s historic victory at the 1927 Bol d’Or automobile race. Powered by Ruby or SCAP engines, its lightweight models remain legendary for their avant-garde design featuring a slanted radiator.

Hauts-de-Seine/Île-de-France

The black-and-white photograph, not included in the sale, is an integral part of the description and serves as a useful illustration of the lot.
