BONHEUR ROSA: (1822-1899) French Painter and Sculptor, well-known for her paintings of animals. Bonheur was widely considered to be the most famous female painter during the nineteenth century. A good A.L.S., ` R. Bonheur´, two pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d., in French. Bonheur in her particular hand-writing, refers to books who have pleased her a lot and which will join her books collection, and states ` Mademoiselle, Veuillez, je vous en prie, recevoir mes remerciements pour le plaisir que vous m´avez fait, en m´envoyant l´ouvrage que je tiens de votre intelligente bonté... je le désirais et il était sur la liste de quelques livres... je me ferai une petite bibliothèque, celui-ci étant des plus intéressants pour moi, je suis donc doublement heureuse... Je vous prie de me pardonner si je n´ai pas encore été vous rapporter vos deux volumes, mais je n´ai malheureusement pas beaucoup de temps pour lire´ (Translation: " Mademoiselle, please accept my sincere thanks for the pleasure you have given me by sending me the book I received as your kind and thoughtful gesture...
