BRITISH AIR RAID HAND BELL
Cast brass hand bell, 3.75 x 5 in., with a 5 in. turned wood handle secured with a large flathead screw. The rim of the bell is engraved 'A.R.P.' ('Air Raid Precautions'), the British civil defense organization established to protect citizens from air raids at the outset of World War II. No maker's mark present, yet clearly a period example. Some scuffs, with a dark patina overall, else very good. Sold with an A.R.P Warden's plaque, 3.25 x 5 in., likely constructed of aluminum and bearing three screw holes. Very good.
