BRZESKI STANISLAW: (1918-1972) Polish fighter ace of World War II. A portion of a D.S., Brzeski, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p., n.d. (1943). The typed document, evidently clipped from a combat report, states, in part, 'I saw 4 FW 190's flying towards us. We were at a height of about 24,000 ft. and the E[nemy]/A[ircraft] were slightly below. I gave orders to my section to attack. The enemy broke formation and I engaged a FW 190 from behind at a range of about 500 yards, giving a short burst of approximately one second .I noticed strikes on the fuselage. The E/A was all the time diving and I followed in order to close with him. The E/A did not attempt any evasive action and I felt sure he was losing control going downwards ..I looked back and saw a section of 3 FW 190's following me on my tail. I was alone and I had to break off the engagement owing to the 3 FW 190's attacking me. It took me a few minutes before I could shake them off, which I eventually did by turning steeply to the right. I found myself then at a height of about 6,000 ft. from where I noticed below me in the woods a fire with black smoke. This was in the place where I had had my combat with the FW 190 I claim one FW 190 probably destroyed'. One file hole to the upper left corner, only affecting one word of text. VG Brzeski's aerial victory credits include two probable destructions of FW 190 aircraft, one on 26th July 1943 and the other on 23rd September 1943.
