Large antique wine decanter in Baccarat crystal, Juvisy model, late 19th century.
The Juvisy service is one of the most famous crystal models, chosen by Emile Loubet in 1899 to become the official service of the Elysée. This superb decor created in 1867 for the Universal Exhibition is a masterpiece: it is made up of scales intertwined with each other and yet all identical, without any offset. It is by the perfection of these models (entirely made by hand!) that we can measure the technical supremacy of Baccarat. The feet and bases are star-shaped.
Old piece, not bearing Baccarat's signature. The model is listed in numerous tableware catalogs from the late 19th and 20th centuries.
It is in good condition after almost 150 years (manufacturing imperfections, in particular small bubbles, testify to its age) - slightly bleached interior, micro chips on a few edges of the scales.
