Bactrian Bronze Stamp Seal with Horse

Ancient Central Asia, Bactrian, ca. 2500 to 2250 BCE. A fascinating bronze-cast stamp of spindle form with a circular base and smaller annular top fixed with a loop for suspension. The stamped design features a running or leaping horse facing right with a bulbous body, slender legs, and petite head surrounded by stars and curvilinear striations, all encompassed by a dotted border. Size: 0.625" W x 0.875" H (1.6 cm x 2.2 cm); 2.75" L x 1.25" W x 2.625" H (7 cm x 3.2 cm x 6.7 cm) with included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired from Venus Gallery, Israel, in 2002
