Balthasar van den Bossche (1681-1715)
Merry company. With expertise of Dr. Walther Bernt dated 1978. Two handwritten labels on the back (referring to Pieter van Laar, il Bamboccio), including: 'Tableau Original de Petr: de Laar du Cabinet de J: E: Monsgr Le Premier Ministre Comte de Brühl'. Graf Heinrich von Brühl (1700-1763) was Prime Minister of the King of Poland and owned a large collection of paintings, drawings and prints, including many Dutch and Flemish masters. In 1769 Catherine the Great bought six hundred paintings from his estate; these largely ended up in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
