Barnett Freedman, British 1901-1958 - Seated Woman; pencil on paper, estate stamp lower right, 65 x 52.5 cm (unframed) (ARR) Provenance: the Estate of the artist Barnett Freedman was one of the most in-demand commercial artists of the mid-20th century, creating designs for the London Underground and Ealing Studios, alongside numerous book covers. During the Second World War he acted as an Official War Artist, travelling with Edward Bawden as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France. He was recently the focus of a retrospective exhibition at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester.
