Description: Germand baroque Tankard with Lid and Portrait of the Emperor Leopold I. — Leipzig, ca. 1690 Johann Paul Schmidt (Master sinde 1683) High, vaulted base with surrounding leaf frieze, cylindrical body, the walls decorated with four round medallions with the bust of Emperor Leopold I. titled ''LEO POLDVS'' between bundles of fruit, slightly vaulted lid with fruit band and centrally identically designed bust, the curved handle with a two-part thumb rest and escutcheon as lower finish. Silver with remains of partial gilding. On the floor city mark ''L'', ligated maker's mark ''JPS'' and tremolier lines. H. 18 cm; 760 g. - Cf. Hoher, gewölbter Fuß mit umlaufendem Blattfries, zylindrischer Korpus, die Wandung mit vier Rundmedaillons mit dem Brustbild des Kaisers Leopold I. betitelt ''LEO POLDVS'' zwischen Früchtebündeln, leicht gewölbter Deckel mit Früchteband und zentral ident gestaltetem Brustbild, der geschweifte Henkel mit zweigeteilter Daumenrast und Wappenschild als unteren Abschluss. Silber mit Resten von Teilvergoldung. Am Boden Beschauzeichen ''L'', ligierte Meistermarke ''JPS'' und Tremolierstriche. H. 18 cm; 760 g. - Vgl. Rosenberg 2, Nr. 2995, 3019, 3066.
