Barograph - Brass, Glass - Early 20th century
Marine barometer, of aneroid-type recorder, or barograph, signed with the initials "L. M" with an anchor, for Léon Maxant, manufacturer of precision instruments. Device numbered 59848. Made of brass and mahogany, it was owned by a French naval commander officiating in Indochina. Dimensions: 30 × 15 × 16. 5 Rare in this length. Its mechanism features 7 steel Vidie capsules, partially filled with air and sensitive to pressure. Their deformation produces a movement captured by an articulated arm with an ink pen. The movements are reproduced on a rotating cylinder with a weekly "naudet" sheet. The clockwork movement of the cylinder is functional, and is wound with its original brass key.
