17th century, Northern European, the carved plaque depicting souls longing to escape heavenward, framed with carved and pierced scrollwork, with polychrome decoration, on a contemporary metal stand.

Condition Report: **In overall structurally sound condition. The lower carved scallop below the volutes has been reattached. Much of the paint appears to be original (faces, hair and bodies). The flame carving has been enhanced over time. Burnished surface in some areas. The upper plinth has small holes in the top. Possibly had an element, now missing. Composed of two main boards that have been reinforced on back with a structural board for stability.
